Editorial Reviews:

Product Description
Whether you're strumming through mountain hills or performing on stage, this tuner is a perfect match for your string instrument. Intelli IMT-500 clip-on chromatic tuner is designed to tune electric and acoustic guitars, basses, violins, banjos, mandolins and more without interference from ambient room noise, all without the use of wires, microphones or pickups. Tuning in noisy environments is a easy because the unique, flexible clamp actually "feels" the instrument's vibrational energy instead of relying on sound. And, the swivel allows a perfect view of the back lit display. The best part is that this amazing quality tuner costs a fraction of what other similar tuners cost. Tunes without interference from ambient noise

4 out of 5 stars Almost Perfect   December 22, 2008
Bundita (Arbovale, WV USA)
The small size, the nice bright display, the fact that you don't have to plug this one in are all great. My only gripe is that the indicator does not seem to track changes in the string pitch in real time. That is, I seem to need to pluck the string, make a tuning adjustment, and then pluck it again to get the new pitch rather than the indicator immediately changing with the tuning. Not a fatal flaw, but it does require an adjustment in tuning technique.

Full Disclosure: So far, used only on an electric guitar.

I bought this along with my first ukulele. It's also my first tuner, and I was afraid I might have trouble with it; but it's so simple. Just clip it on, pluck the string, and tune up or down until the arrow is right in the center. Excellently designed, lightweight and compact. I love it.

5 out of 5 stars Beats the "Intellitouch PT1 Tuner"   July 5, 2008

The "Intelli IMT500" is a better product than the "Intellitouch PT1 Tuner" at half the price.

The IMT500

* Is more sensitive, so I don't need to move it around the headstock trying to find a "sweet spot."

* Has a more stable reading; it doesn't "jitter" as much as the PT1.

* Is slightly more compact, although the PT1 *does* have a nicer plastic pouch.

* Has a virtual "dial gauge" rather than the 6 little ">>>", "<<<" arrows of the PT1.

I have abandoned by PT1 and now I will purchase a IMT500 for each of my guitars.

This product is not as good as the other tuners similar in style and function. This tuner does not have good response for the "E" string on any guitar or bass I have tried it on. I actually have to use the harmonic on the "E" string to get it to register quite often.

It is very accurate, but annoying that it doesn't like the low "E". It even works on my double bass (stand up) for everything except the "E" string when it is clamped on the bridge. I have tried different locations on the headstocks and it makes no difference.
